Merry Early Christmas to Me!

Since I discovered the Cake Cricut, I've always wanted one.  However, $450 was never in our budget.  I always figured it would have to be some sort of "Christmas Miracle" that I get one of these.  Just two days ago, my instructor, Barbara Reed (my bearer of "good tidings of great joy") emailed me and I'm sure several others to inform them of the great deal on Cake Cricuts.  They were on sale for only $50.  I literally wanted to scream.  I was so excited!  To make a very long story short, I ordered one and I am now eagerly waiting on it to show up on my doorstep!  Hopefully very soon, I will be posting a cake that I have had the opportunity to use the cake cricut for!

Purple and Black 18th Birthday Cake

This was my first attempt at making a "number" cake.  I used a 9" square pan for the "1" and a 8" round for the "8".  The girl I did the cake for isn't too fond of fondant, so once again, I made black icing.  (I do not like black icing!!)  Being my first attempt a cake like this, I was pleased with how it turned out.  Happy 18th Alicia!!
